Corrective - fixing any errors not found during other stages (mostly testing)
- the software company must fix these, because the legally binding contract of the Software Spec.

Perfective - adding in any new features that are suggest now the system is in use.
- clieht must pay for this as its not in the software specification

Adaptive - change the program to run on new platforms, new OS, new hardware.
