Intelligent Robots

Dumb Robots - follow repetitive task, programmed to do specific task to high precision, human controlled, equipped with sensors, providing feedback on their surroundings

Sensors - infrared, heat, light, movement, touch, vision, radiation, sound,

Uses Intelligent Robots - Bomb Disposal, Deep Sea Exploration, Space Exploration, Operations, Manufacturing in Industry, War Zones

Problems - Providing a power supply, implementing mobility, good vision systems, manipulating objects, good navigation and path planning

Advantages - ability to learn, 24/7, create jobs (training, maintenance) deal with real life situations, work in dangerous environments

Disadvantages - people lose jobs, expensive, running costs,

Implications - Who is responsible for the Robot? Owner or Creator? - usually need to come with or display a disclaimer
